Der XLVII Kongress der internationalen AICA hat vom 8. bis 16. Oktober 2014 in Südkorea stattgefunden.
Thema: Art Criticism in a Labyrinth
Bericht über den Internationalen AICA-Kongress in Korea
Danièle Perrier berichtet:
"Der Kongress fand weniger in Seoul statt als vielmehr in der nahe gelegenen administrativen Hauptstadt Suwon, die den Kongress mit umgerechnet rund 33.000 Euro wesentlich finanziert hat. Hervorzuheben ist, dass sämtliche Vorträge zum Kongress-Thema Art Criticism in a Labyrinth bereits bei dessen Beginn in koreanisch und englisch gedruckt in Buchform vorlagen. Besonders interessant waren diejenigen Vorträge, die einen Einblick in die Haupttendenzen der koreanischen Kunst in den letzten 50 Jahre gaben. Das Vortragsprogramm war allgemein sehr dicht, sodass kaum Zeit zum Besuch von Galerien oder Ateliers zeitgenössischer Künstler übrig blieb. Leider fehlte dies in der Programmierung des Kongresses vollkommen.
Bei der Mitgliederversammlung standen Neuwahlen an: Marek Bartelik und Yoon Jin Sup kandidierten für die Wahl zum Präsidenten der AICA International. Marek Bartelik wurde mit über zwei Drittel Mehrheit wiedergewählt. Marjorie Allthorpe-Guyton löst Brane Kovic als Generalsekretärin ab. Die Schatzmeisterin Efi Strousa aus Griechenland ist weiter im
Amt. Im kommenden Jahr 2015 wird es keinen internationalen Kongress geben, da der vorgesehene Veranstalter, AICA Schweden, sich mangels Finanzierung zurückgezogen hat. Stattdessen wird die Generalversammlung in Paris stattfinden.
Kuba bietet an, den internationalen Kongress 2017 auszurichten. Die kubanische Sektion ist neu und wurde vom Staat und nun auch von der AICA-Dachorganisation in Paris anerkannt."
Die Präsidentin informiert darüber, dass Danièle Perrier für drei Jahre als Elected Member in das Präsidium der Internationalen AICA aufgenommen wurde und den Vorsitz der Fellowship Funds Commission übernommen hat. Sie dankt Danièle Perrier für ihren Bericht und außerdem noch allen Mitgliedern, die im Herbst dieses Jahres schriftlich per Briefwahl an den Wahlen teilgenommen haben.

Call for papers AICA Korea
Der 47. Kongress der Internationalen AICA findet vom 8. - 16. Oktober 2014 in Süd-Korea statt. Das Thema: Art Criticism in a Labyrinth.
Jedes Mitglied der AICA kann daran teilnehmen. Falls Sie einen Vortrag halten möchten, müssen Sie Ihren Vorschlag bis um 28. Februar diesen Jahres eingereicht haben.

Call for papers for the XLVII AICA International Congress in South Korea
8-16 October 2014
We would like to cordially invite you to participate at the XLVII AICA International Congress. The Congress is organized by the South Korea section of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) and will be held on 8-16 October in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, the location of Hwaseong Fortress, a Unesco World Heritage site of the South Korea.
The XLVII AICA International Congress will be preceded by an optional Pre-Congress culture tour to Hwaseong Fortress and Hwaseong festival in Suwon (8 October) and museum tour in Seoul (9 October), and followed by Post Congress tours to Gwangju Biennale and Busan Biennale (15,16 Oct).
The Congress Theme Art Criticism in a Labyrinth addresses the role of art criticism in a global environment. What methodologies do we need to develop, to deal with the diversities of expression and the complexities of the contemporary art world? The Theme has three sub-themes:
1 - Art and art criticism in a divided society
2 - Critical writing in the era of social networking
3 - Discourse on contemporary Asian art.

The conference will be held mainly in English, though papers may be given in any of AICA's three languages (English, French, Spanish). Keynote speakers, covering broad aspects of the main theme will be followed by short papers and working sessions with the participants.
The AICA Congress Commission invites members, as well as non members, of AICA to submit a short text of 15-20 lines (maximum one page) in English, outlining their proposed approach to the themes of the Congress.
Travel Grants may be available for selected speakers from developing countries, Central and Eastern Europe.
Deadline
Please submit your application online at 2014aica@naver.com together with a short biography (max. 200 words) by 28 February 2014.

Deadline for final papers will be 30 June 2014.
Visuals
There will be video/audio equipment available for lectures, we invite all speakers to support their presentation by visuals. We would like to underline the relationship of art criticism to the visual.
Translation
There will be no simultaneous translation. Speakers' final papers must be submitted by the deadline, in one of AICA's three official languages (English, French, Spanish). Texts will be duplicated, distributed and reviewed in the original language. These papers will be translated by the organizers into the other languages and distributed at the time of the Congress.
Publication
There will be no book publication but all lectures will be recorded and published online (video/sound/text) on the website of AICA South Korea.
